DiSC Profile - Invaluable Insights into Self and Others

The DiSC profile has been used for decades to help people understand themselves and others

. For a small investment of time and money, the DiSC profile provides 20+ pages of powerful information and knowledge that helps individuals and teams develop strategies to ensure their success.

William Moulton Marston first described the theoretical model on which DiSC is based in his 1928 book Emotions of Normal People. He identified four "primary emotions" and associated behavioral responses, which are now known as:

Dominance: direct, strong-willed, decisive

Influence: sociable, talkative, enthusiastic

Steadiness: accommodating, consistent, supportive

Conscientiousness: private, analytical, logical

Based on Marston's Model, the DiSC Classic Profile was created and first published in 1972. The DiSC profile offers a self-interpreted report that helps individuals understand their habits and behavioral tendencies in a manageable and systematic way. Once individuals understand their own behavioral tendencies, the DiSC profile helps them learn to recognize and understand the behavioral styles and strengths of others, learn when to adapt their behavior, and develop strategies to meet their needs.

This understanding helps to improve communication, foster teamwork, minimize conflict, and improve relationships within and outside of the workplace. DiSC provides a common language that is non-threatening and non-judgmental, through which employees at all levels can discuss interpersonal concerns with others.

The DiSC profile includes a description of the basic motivators and the personal goals that drive an individual to interact with others the way they do. The DiSC profile also describes an individual's behavioral tendencies at work, including how they get things done, how they influence others, situations they tend to avoid, as well as strategies for maximizing personal and interpersonal effectiveness.

In addition to the original DiSC profile (the DiSC Classic profile, there are several application-specific DiSC profiles in the "Everything DiSC Application Library" for sales, management, and leadership that offer additional insights. These new DiSC profiles are specialized, in-depth, and customizable.

DiSC group reports provide a composite of a group's DiSC profile and information on how DiSC styles can impact an organization's culture. The group can then explore their culture, its advantages and disadvantages, discuss its effect on group members, and examine its influence on decision making and risk taking.

The foundation of personal and professional success lies in understanding yourself, understanding others, and realizing the impact of personal behavior on others. The DiSC profile offers an easy-to-use, inexpensive vehicle for self development to participants and facilitators worldwide.
