There is barely any stone that can meet the varieties of applications served by Granite stone

. The stunning beauty of granite coupled with strength and resistance from chemicals makes it the most opted material for construction applications. Here are some of the common examples of granite applications. They are as follows:

Floor: Large slabs are preferred to cover floor than tiles. Some granite surfaces are polished and finished to resist staining, water absorption and rusting. Also, to avoid visibility of dirt, darker slabs are opted, mostly in commercial areas which are more prone to dust. Any length of slabs can be used for flooring.

Walls: For walls also granite slabs are preferred in commercial places. However, they are different than floor slabs because they are light weighted to make them stay on the wall with ease. Apart from covering entire wall of half length wall, these stones are also used for skirting the bottom of the wall. Thin and long slabs are used for the purpose. Thin slabs can be also used to frame the window and doors. For more decorations purpose granite can be also used around fireplace to give it a modern look.

Counter tops: In kitchen and bathrooms counter tops can be made out of granite stone. For this purpose, usually 2-3cm thick slabs are used, though 3cm slabs look better than the 2cm slabs. Since they are strong and bear weight, long lasting life can be expected. Being heat resistant they can be freely used in kitchen to place hot utensils and use hot plates. No matter what spills over it, surface is not going to change its form, until what spilt is acid. They also play a role of decorative shelves. A thin slab of granite with edges round or chamfered, and polished can be used as shelve to place decorative items.

Other uses: Apart from just construction application granite slabs are also used for some distinct purposes like standing dividers. With polished and round edges these slabs can be used as dividers in living rooms, garden area or any other corner of the house. Similarly, granite slabs can be used for furniture items. For instance, get a corner table with thin legs and table tops. Not only it will add beauty to the room, but will also create royal ambience. Name plates are other popular applications of granite hang outside main door or gateway.
