The 790SW has an extraordinary feature of getting held underneath water for up to 33ft., but its picture quality is not as stunning as it would be by using a professional digital camera. Our analysis of taking pictures underwater with the digital cameras Olympus had horrible experience. Most of the snapshots were quite blurred and distorted. The only better way to take good pictures is to keep on taking loads of snapshots, in which you will definitely get good ones. The LCD used during underwater is equal to nothing. Your pictures would be made upon your guesswork, and turning LCD on or off doesnt really make a big difference on the picture quality.

It does have xtra protection, but you would be compromising on the picture quality. If you are not a scuba diver, or a wildlife photographer, buy a less durable one from other brand in the smale price range. This way you will get better pircutre quality as compared to the digital cameras Olympus.
