Just like traditional scrapbooking, digital scrapbooking can be a fun and creative process

. However, like any process, creating a quality scrapbook is going to take some time. Creating a scrapbook with digital scrapbook software can take days, weeks or even months to complete. Because of this, you are probably going to want to save your work. The only question is how and in what format.

As previously stated, you are probably going to want to save your scrapbooking projects. After all, why spend hours on a project if you have no plans on completing it? It is easy to save your work with digital scrapbook software. There are two methods you can use. The first is to go menu and left click on it. Then left click on save as. After the initial save, you can go menu and click save. The other option you have is to go to the tool bar and press the save icon (it resembles a floppy disk). You can save your scrapbook to your computer, flash drive, floppy disk or a CD. Whenever you are ready to access it again you can.

Now that you know how to save, you can choose what format you want to use to save your scrapbook or images. There are varieties of file formats that can be used. The most common type of file you will see is the .jpeg or .jpg. Most papers and backgrounds will be in this file type, and all digital scrapbooking software can open these files. Another common file type that is compatible with scrapbook software is .png. This format is usually used for fancy embellishments and alphas and can be incorporated into layers. A .tif format is used to for high quality images as well. In addition to these formats, you can save your scrapbook or elements of it in a .zip format or a PDF file, slideshow or movie.

As you can see, digital scrapbooking software has many formats available to save your hard work in. However, the question remains. Which format is right for saving your scrapbook? Honestly, it all depends on your scrapbooking needs. As you can see, different elements require a different format. The important thing is you save your hard work. You would not want to toil for hours just to let your hard work go to waste. Once you are finished you can share it with family and friends who will enjoy all the effort and creativity you put into your scrapbook.
