The alliance of internet and TV called digital TV is obviously the future of the media as we know it
. Digital television combines the informational part of the internet and the entertainment part of the TV and this tweaked to 2.0, plus lot of small features that make digital TV the ultimate thing. This promising technology has a number of serious benefits, yet there are still a number of obstacles.
As for benefits even on the current stage of the development of this technology there are hundreds of them. Digital TV allows literally controlling the broadcasting and creating your own channels simply through the TV set. One more benefit is the internet access available with the help of Digital TV. The merging of television and internet providers allows combining both of the services in your TV set. Modern TVs have everything to make this alliance true. They can easily handle an attached keyboard and mouse and within a few moments you are browsing the news or social networks right on the screen of your TV in front of the sofa. But probably the biggest benefit is the quality of the broadcasting. Digital TV allows to broadcast at great quality and also to improve the show even at the production stage (if it was shot on a digital camera of course). The signal is much more stable than the analog TV and does not depend from such things as weather for example.
The biggest obstacle in the way of digital television is the conflict between old and new. Like in the current situation with alternative energy sources most of them simply lack a green light for their development and wide spreading. People who are tied to oil industry are just holding it back. The same thing is with digital television. Of course not digital by the means of broadcasting this will in any case happen and all broadcasting will be digital within few years. But as for all the great features and benefits described in this article they could be delayed. Mostly this is caused by the fact that the viewer can skip advertising which means a loss of profit for the channels and eventually keeps them from unleashing the full power of digital TV.
The second problem lies on the side of the viewer namely the TV sets. To get all the digital features the viewer will need a new TV set that supports these features and this partly leads us to the problem number three.
Another big issue tied to the arrival of Digital TV is the ecological problem. Television is very popular which means that there is really lot TV equipment and in case of a fast switch to digital TV, most of it will end up in garbage disposals. Chemicals contained in these TV sets and equipment are of course not dangerous in case of a one set. But millions of discarded sets might lead to a serious ecological disaster. This is of course not the most serious obstacle for digital television nevertheless this remains a problem.
