DirecTV, a satellite TV giant in the United States of America is known to all, although for more negative reasons now. While settling disputes, the company has paid a whopping $13.25 million to the states along with restitution who have been deceived. Besides, it has also agreed to reform its marketing, sales, and customer service practices. Whoever in Texas feels that he/she has is dissatisfied with the restitution proposal of the company can take their case to a claims administrator that is hired by the company. This administrator, according to the agreement, will offer a "consumer-friendly non-legal environment to encourage the consumer's participation in the process", and that the decision of the administrator will be final.

Whether with consumers of Texas or in any state of America, DirecTV has settled that it will clearly disclose all the terms and conditions of the contract to consumers. It will replace defective leased equipment without charging any cost except for shipping. It will not unwillingly enter a customer into an additional contract while replacing the defective equipment. In fact, it clearly let customers know when their contract is extended or they are into a contract. It is also mandatory on part of DirecTV to make consumers aware when they need to pay extra if they sports package. According to spokeswoman, Jade Ekstedt, DirecTV has improved its practices. Confirmation letters, advertising materials, lease agreements and e-mails are now written in a more clear script.
