Discovering Your calling - Part 1
Before you can discover what God has called you to do or reach your full potential, you have got to find a lasting basis on which to build your self-worth. Discovering your call is finding out or learning for the first time what God has got in store for you. Just as one's beliefs can move one forward, shadow beliefs can hold one back.
These beliefs hold an individual captive, pointing out that he is not able, not worthy or that he will never make it. You must not let such beliefs control or decide your future. Refuse to translate any thought into a word if it contradicts what God says about you.
The bible says, "He has chosen us before the creation of the world." Ephesians 1:4. "In Him we were also chosen, having been predestined according to the plan of Him who works out everything in conformity with the purpose of His will." Ephesians 1:11. From these quoted scriptures, I would suggest that you are not an afterthought. When it comes to God's plan, you are forethought. He loves you and you remain central in His thoughts and plans.
It is important to prove yourself in your local church as it is an important part of answering God's calling. The Word of God says, " Before I formed you in the womb, I knew you; before you were born, I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations." Jeremiah 1:5. God has a plan and purpose for your life and you are valuable in His sight.
In the light of such a big responsibility, Jeremiah did what some servants of God have done. He hesitated, protested and gave an excuse "Ah, Sovereign Lord, I do not know how to speak, I am only a child." Jeremiah 1:6. In effect, he was explaining to God that he was not skilled and not experienced in speaking as a prophet. God is not interested in excuses and He does not look at the age of people before He calls them to do His work. He can use anyone at any particular period of life.
When God called Moses to go to Pharaoh so that His people would be released from Egypt, Moses replied, " Since I speak with faltering lips, why should Pharaoh listen to me?" Exodus 6:30. But the Lord told Moses that his brother, Aaron, would be his spokesman. It is no use giving excuses in order to sidetrack God's calling. The Almighty does not like or accept excuses!
The Word of God tells us in Romans 12:6-9, "We have different gifts, according to the grace given us. If a man's gift is prophesying, let him use it in proportion to his faith. If is serving, let him serve; if it is teaching, let him teach; if it is encouraging, let him encourage; if it is contributing to the needs of others, let him give generously; if it is leadership, let him govern diligently; if it is showing mercy, let him do it cheerfully."
God's Word is true and it will guide you in discovering your calling. The Almighty has got the final say in your calling and I encourage you to listen to whatever He tells you. Take heed always and be in His will all the time; and you will never go wrong. PEACE!
PRAYER OF SALVATION

"Lord Jesus, I am sorry for all the things I have done wrong. Thank you for dying for me on the cross, to set me free from my sins. I ask you to come into my life as my personal Lord and Saviour, and fill me with the Holy Spirit. Thank you Lord Jesus. Amen."
