Young children love arts and crafts and it's easy to find things that they will love to do. They love to paint, you can make paint out of whip cream and add food coloring for non-toxic paints for younger children. Giving younger children cut out shapes and glue- they will be able to design their own masterpiece. Since they are learning basic skills you can give them safety scissors and let them get used to cutting out things. Other cheap items that you can obtain for their arts and crafts would be feathers, beads, yarn and play dough.

For older children you may want to teach them how to knit or crochet. Maybe they want to learn woodworking, and like to build things with their hands. They can sew or do embroidery making things that way. There are plenty of things that can be purchased cheaply for the older child, such as paints, and paper for them to paint on. A quick trip to the crafts store will get them thinking about what they would like to do.

Always have a supply box of arts and crafts material available for your children. You can add to the box when you find things on sale, and put them back for that rainy day project or for a craft lesson. Make sure that you have markers, crayons, paper, beads, yarn and other odds and ends so that your child can get creative when they want to.

There are many things that you can make at home for your arts and crafts. You can make play dough for your children to use, and even make bubbles, and non-toxic paints. All these things can be made at home with tings you probably already have around the house. These recipes are easy to make and quick. Children love using these items that you make at home. You can even make goo for them to use.

You don't have to spend a lot of money to have a great supply of arts and craft projects. A quick look online and you can find many age-appropriate projects and patterns that you can print online and always have something for them to get creative with.
