Do It Yourself Chemical Peel-Do You Know What To Do?

Do It Yourself Chemical Peel-Do You Know What To Do

?

When it comes to a do it yourself chemical peel, you're definitely going to need to know what you're doing. You're essentially damaging the top layer of skin to reveal the fresher, younger skin below. Don't forget, this is putting acid on your skin and if you're not careful, you could seriously hurt yourself. That said, many people do it everyday and are happy with the results.

What Can You Expect From a Do It Yourself Chemical Peel?

You probably know there are different levels of peeling.

The ones deemed safe for novice at home users will give your skin a deep cleansing and remove blackheads. They can also reduce fine lines and wrinkles and increase your cell turnover to reveal younger skin.

The at home peels typically use:

1--Glycolic acid which is an alphahydroxy acid that comes from sugar cane.

2-Lactic Acid which comes from milk and fruit.

Don't be swayed by their seemingly innocuous origins. These are acids and they can damage your skin if you're allergic or leave it on to long!

Ok, so you've chosen your peel and you're ready to apply.

Get Ready

1-Set up your tools on a clean surface. This includes a gentle cleanser, paper towels, cotton rounds, and your peel solution

2--Clean your face thoroughly to remove make up, dirt, excess oils

3-Apply the peel with the cotton rounds

4-Let it sit according to the directions unless it hurts in which case you want to wash it off immediately. You can use a baking soda and water solution to stop the burning.

Once you've washed it off, your skin will probably be red and may sting a bit. You can put cucumber slices on your face to cool it down and apply a good moisturizer.

The do it yourself chemical peel is one way to improve your skin's texture and increase your cell turnover. But, if you're pregnant, have rosacea or very sensitive skin, this is not something you'd want to try.

Are There Alternatives?

And, if you're a little scared of the whole acid application thing like me, you might want to investigation other solutions too. Luckily, high quality skincare can do much of the same thing without the scary side effects.

Ingredients like active manuka honey are proven to boost your collagen cells so your skin stays young looking. Use this with a regular deep cleansing mask and you may be surprised at how good your skin looks in just a few weeks.
