They will probably be cheap to begin with, but in the long run when your items are broken and they will not pay for repairs or replacement, it will end up costing you more. Some of the cheaper companies don't even have insurance to cover your belongings in case of breakage or loss. You want to make sure this is a priority when you first talk to a company. They should be able to provide you with the policy so you won't have to worry. Many companies won't offer any blankets or packing supplies to help you with your move. The ones that do can be the one for you. Some will give you boxes, peanuts, tape and bubble wrap to help you pack your things and protect them. This will save you money in the long run because the materials can add up.

The cheaper companies may also have a very dirty bed to put your belongings in and a questionable van to put them in. Their truck is probably on its last leg and it shows. This means they can have all of your belongings in their truck on the side of the road on the way, broken down. That should never happen and you should be able to tell the condition of the truck when it pulls in. They should also clean and maintain the bed so all of your boxes won't end up dirty when they arrive at your new home. Another service the leading company may provide that other's will not is packing, transporting and unpacking for you. This can help you tremendously and take some of the stress off of your shoulders.

Once they are placing all of your things in their truck, they should have a neat, organized way of placing everything so it won't slide around and break. They should also be able to maximize space so the multiple trips won't be needed. After you realize that the cheapest company isn't really the cheapest and you receive what you pay for, you will be happy you didn't hire them.
