Do You Know What Causes Warts?
If you have ever had a wart, then you know how embarrassing they can be
. They can grow anywhere on the skin and it seems like they just pop out of nowhere. Since they are infections in the top layer of the skin, they usually enter through a tiny scratch that eventually turns into a wart. It can be difficult to understand why we have to get them. Exactly what causes warts?
The virus that causes warts is called HPV, or human papilloma virus. It is ubiquitous and we all come in contact with it at some point in our day. It can be caught from touching door knobs or even typing on your keyboard. It is literally everywhere.
By the time you actually see the wart, it could be caused by a virus that you picked up months ago. It is really amazing how long they can take to surface but once they do, they are as big as ever. It seems they truly do pop up from nowhere but in fact, they really don't.
To prevent warts, make sure that you cover up any cuts or skin damage. It could be from a nick that you got from shaving, or a scrape you got from scratching the skin. This is where the HPV virus will attack. You should also refrain from touching inanimate objects with your bare skin if you can.
The look of a wart depends on where it shows up on the body. If it shows up where the skin is thick, like on your sole, then it is called a verruca, and will look much different since you will have to walk on it. They are can look almost like cauliflower on the surface.
Did you know that there are actually many different types of warts. There are common, verrucas, plane and filiform warts? Most are found on elbows or hands. Remember they can spread. If you scratch them or shave them off then they can spread. Be careful not to mess with them too much or scratch them. It will cause more warts in the long run.
Warts are never wanted. No one wants them. There are many ways that you can get rid of them. Most people just go to their doctor and have it frozen off. You can also buy many over the counter products that work well. If you use them over and over and you see no results, then make sure you get it checked out by a professional so it will go away quickly and easily.
So if you are concerned with getting warts, take the precautionary measures that are available to you. Wash your hands and under your fingernails whenever possible and remember not to touch things that you don't have to. Warts are never a good thing to get so beware and do what you can to prevent them. Stay clean and safe- when you do not get a wart, you will be glad you did.
