Do You Think You're Uncomfortable To Ask Company To Your House? The Least Complicated Suggestions Fo
You either want to invite guests to your home or have gotten into a situation where it has been thrust upon you
. The problem is your home does not exactly look like a page from a design magazine. This problem is more common than you might think. You only have to stand in a check out line at the grocery store to notice all the home decorating magazines to realize this. The good news is that you do not have to be a decorating genius or spend a lot of money to make your home "guest" worthy! For those of you who may feel lingering thoughts like "who cares what people think of my home", think again.
Certainly you need not make excuses for your choice of style but you also know that you want to present a clean and appealing atmosphere for your guests. Let's face it, people talk. You have probably been to someone's home before and noted the good and the bad. A few simple tips are all you need to have your home make a good impression on your guests. That good impression, in case you did not already know, also reflects on you!
Regardless of the event; birthday party, business associate dinner, baby shower, it is best to assume guests will be in all of the rooms of your home. This means do NOT shove all the junk into one room and then be surprised when you are caught out by a guest trying to locate the bathroom
It is ok to shove that junk under your beds though! In fact, make sure that anything that resembles clutter is out of sight.
Check your curb appeal. Weed any beds, sweep your porch and add some color for warmth to your front door. A simple blooming basket will do.
Consider the time of day for your event. Dust is more evident in strong daylight. So is pet fur on furniture. An evening event allows for softer lighting and hides more obvious flaws.
Dust and vacuum a few hours before guests are scheduled to arrive.
Make sure bedrooms are tidy and smell fresh.
Clean every bathroom. No skimping on this! Make sure there are fresh hand towels and soaps in each.
Even if you are having food brought in, remove all evidence of where it came from, and put a new trash liner in the trash can.
Fresh flowers are a nice touch, put in several different places around your home.
Make sure that all cutlery, dishes and glasses are sparkling clean.
You no longer have to dread inviting guests to your home. All it takes is a little elbow grease and a few simple touches to make your home as inviting as you are!
