Don't Give Up! Quitting Is Not An Option

I live by this rule and it is sometimes extremely difficult. It tests my resolve and my commitment. It is one of my terms, and my living standards. It's my character, it's whom I am. I do not give up. I am a man who relentlessly pursues my goals and objectives.

But, I am not an idiot! I understand what is at stake and I will make smart decisions in difficult times.

"Not giving up" does not mean blindly walking off the end of a short plank into shark-infested waters. No, not quitting supports the action of making good business decisions, including ceasing operations and liquidating if that is the right way to go. If the business is not worth continuing, if there is inadequate revenue and you do not have sufficient retained earnings to relaunch or reinvent, and you cannot support the workouts or the necessary marketing, and then in this case "not giving up" includes making good business decisions. Ceasing the operation, liquidating assets and preparing for the offer in compromise so you can start a new chapter that is what it means to not give up.

In the more traditional sense, it also means trying again, and again, and again, and again as many times as necessary to get it right. Doing what ever it takes to succeed, making whatever changes may be required (e.g. downsizing, reinventing your business model, debt workouts, successfully marketing through the internet using blogs, video, and social networking) exhausting your options to the maximum endthat's also a definition of "not giving up".

The point is that quitting is never an option but being smart and making good decisions is always a necessary requirement and a basic prerequisite to a successful business turnaround. If you must cease operations and self-liquidate, make certain it is not because you're quittinggiving upbut because it is the right decision.That is respectable, honorable leadership. This is what your family and employees expect and deserve, respectable honorable leadership, not quitting, doing the most you humanly can that makes sense.

Don't ever give up; quitting is never an acceptable option.
