Do you have a multi storey home. Maybe you have a two storey home. Perhaps you have a three storey home. Or if you are really lucky you may have a four or more storey home. In any case, your home will most likely need to be air conditioned. Below are some tips for air conditioning multi story homes.
If you've a multi level home, get all your quotes as early on into the building process as practicable. Attempt to get air-con quotes while the building plans are still being drawn up. This will enable you to modify the plans to accommodate for the air con.
With a multi level home, in the planning stage you will very likely need to add penetrations, dropped ceilings, bulkheads and electricity supplies to your plans to effectively accommodate for air-con.
If your home has been built but it could be a lot harder to add channeled air-con. The commonest issue with existing multi level houses is there is not any access from the top roof to the bottom roof. This often means you've got to break your air conditioner into two smaller systems ( one unit upstairs and one unit downstairs ) which can add lots of cash to the final air-con quotation.
A way around this is to add a roof cover to your house. This is largely a metal box that links the top roof space to the bottom roof space so channel can be run within it. This roof cover is generally colored to match the outside of your house so it mixes in as much as humanly possible. With a roof cover, you can physically bring the ductwork from upstairs to downstairs which allows you to employ a single channeled airconditioning system for your whole home.
If you cannot use a roof cowl or do not like the look of them, there are still a few other air conditioning options. Firstly, wall split (ductless) units can easily be used to air condition individual rooms.
When you are looking at cooling / heating in multiple rooms you may use what is referred to as a multi split air-con system. Here is where one or two head unit's ( indoor units ) connect to a single out of doors unit. This makes the system look neater and prevents you from having multiple compressors lying all around your house.
So that the basic rule is to get all your quotes absolutely prior to starting building. But if this is too late remember there remain a few aircon options available to you.
