Dr. Akhilesh Das Gupta MP is a respected educationist who aims to promote and strengthen the quality of education in the Indian educational system. . He has played a vital role in augmenting growth and expansion in various fields of education. Dr, Gupta has been imperial in removing the social stigma of illiteracy and enforcing education as a birth right of every citizen by reaching out to common man in villages and towns. He has also laid emphasis on free primary education up to the age of fourteen years in all government run schools. Dr. Akhilesh Das Gupta founded several educational institutions such as Babu Banarasi National Institute of Technology & Management, Lucknow; Northern India Engineering College, Lucknow; Uttar Pradesh Dental College & Research Centre, Lucknow; Northern India Engineering College, New Delhi; BBD Institute of Mass Communications, Lucknow; Babu Banarasi Das International Institute of Technology & Management, Lucknow; Babu Banarasi Das College of Higher Education, Lucknow; Babu Banarasi Das Medical College, Lucknow; BBD Northern India Institute of Technology, New Delhi and BBD Northern India College of Pharmacy, New Delhi.

A respected politician, Dr. Akhilesh Das Gupta MP has extensive years of experience as the Mayor of Lucknow and later as a Union Minister, Government of India. He was elected as Member of Parliament in November, 1996 and has since been re-elected from November, 2002 to November, 2008. He joined Bahujan Samaj Party and was elected as its National General Secretary on the 10th May 2008. On 26th November 2008, he was re-elected to the Rajya Sabha (Third Term) consecutively. He has served as Minister of State in the Ministry of Steel, Govt. of India from 2006 to 2008. He has always moved beyond the parameters of social ramifications and taken important steps for ensuring a secure future of countless number of children.
