The Negatives
If you are not paying attention, emptying the clear plastic dirt canister can be messier than throwing away some of the better made traditional disposable bags. Even though the DC25 is designed to be extremely easy to maneuver, it still can be awkward for some new users until they get the hang of it.
The handle does not telescope to accommodate extremely tall people.

The Bottom Line:
The fact of the matter is that at just under $500 (USD) it is not for everyone. However, it's no secret that the best products often cost the most up front but ironically cost the least in the long run.
However, (and I'm sure this won't exactly surprise you), it is a very real possibility that many cheaper bag vacuums might have to be completely replaced 1 or 2 times while the Dyson DC25 just keeps on trucking. Also the Dyson costs almost zero to maintain because it has no bags, belts or filters to replace. That can mean a possible savings of $140 to $267 over a span of 5 years. This is how an inexpensive $200 vacuum becomes a $540 vacuum.
The total cost difference over 5 years actually favors the Dyson DC25. So why not go for the vacuum cleaner that offers the best value, lasts longer, does a better job, is easier to use and returns cleanerair?
