One man is hoping to open a new regional center in the area. He wishes for it to be located in the city of Marina, and believes that projects will be diverse. If it gets approved by the USCIS, the company behind it, called Citizen Fund, would strive to work on projects that involve agribusiness and clean energy endeavors.

In order for the center to succeed, it would need to first get approval from the USCIS, which is in charge of deeming companies as official regional centers. It would then need to attract several business investors interested in the pathway of eb5. International immigrants would have to lend their money to whatever projects the center is working on. The goal is to have a positive impact in the community while also allowing immigrants to make the United States their new residence. Hopefully, at the end of the project, the investors could turn a profit, but that only occurs if the regional center is successful. This is, of course, a gamble.

When it comes to the program known as eb5, international immigrants are accepted from all countries. As long as they are interested, have at least $500,000 to invest, and can prove it came from legal sources, they are usually approved. However, this potential regional center's officials plan to market the center to residents of Asian countries. They include South Korea, China, and Southeast Asia.

If the new regional center in Marina is approved, it will likely start developing projects and accepting investors sometime in 2010. If you are interested in getting involved with a new project that deals with clean energy or similar subjects, and want to come to the United States in the next year, consider this center. Not everyone who uses the eb5 visa gets to invest in a project that they are interested in, so be sure to consider yourself lucky if this center is eventually approved and accepts you as an investor.
