EMC offers automatic updates of grades, Clariion and Celerra arrays

EMC unveiled improvements to the storage array midrange Clariion and Celerra Network

Attached Storage(NAS), as well as the new gate-level data block technology compression fully automated storage levels (FAST) software.

FAST software allows the amount of data to be dynamically moved between tiers of storage to EMC storage arrays, depending on business needs. In combination with solid-state disk(SSD), creates a tiered storage architecture, introducing the most I / O intensive data from flash memory rarely SAS or SATA.

EMC said it has increased the detail with which the software can move data between tiers of FAST. Previously, data had to be transferred in increments of 1 TB. Now may be transferred in units of 1GB, which will use expensive, high-end SSD efficient, according to Jon Siegal, director of product marketing for EMC.

FAST EMC introduced cache, which uses the power of the SSD in the matrix layer as a type of non-volatile cache to improve performance in the most I / O intensive applications. Administrators can choose how many opportunities SSD allocate cache. EMC offers automatic updates of grades, Clariion and Celerra arrays

Apartment FAST now offers a compression block. Previously, the software only permitted level of compression. Siegal said users should be able to reduce memory requirements by up to 50% of the compression function.

From the front of data management, EMC is now also the cost of software to manage the Unisphere, which allows its Clariion and Celerra NAS gateway to be managed through a single user interface. EMC originally unveiled Unisphere software user conference in May.

In contrast to previous management software ofered by EMC Celerra Manager, Navisphere, and Unisphere works in both NAS and SAN technologies. Clariion and Celerra storage units has been managed with Navisphere software earlier.

Unisphere manages all the plates of FLARE CX 19 and newer code, and manages all operational units of the Celerra NAS OS 6.0 and newer. While the entire line could Navisphere CX arrays, also was necessary to manage Celerra block options(Fibre Channel or iSCSI).

EMC said it is also available to native Fibre Channel over Ethernet(FCoE) on both its midrange Clariion and Celerra devices via hot-pluggable I / O module. We just want to[allow] our clients, protocols need to add Siegal said.

company said it has also integrated software to manage the Unisphere vCenter VMware VMware storage by allowing administrators to spend just a few mouse clicks. Traditionally, the allocation of capacity, even in virtual environments, storage is one of the administrators.

a single integrated package for the management of the box with VMware vSphere and APIs for VMware vStorage storage arrays, Siegal said. Its the ability to manage virtual and physical environments together, he said. What we have done is used the latest API and plug in the vCenter and vSphere.

EMC Celerra gateway, said it is now available with Intel Westmeres newest Xeon processor 5600, which Siegal said he would roughly double the I / O performance over the previous processor. Two new models, Celerra and Celerra VG8 VG2, are already available.
