Myth: Hearing loss only happens to old people. If you are under fifty there is not chance you will lose your hearing. All these word about hearing loss is just meant to scare us so we will buy hearing aids.

Truth: Only 35% of everyone who has lost their hearing are older than 60. Most of them are between 18-45. Hearing loss may happen to anyone, regardless of age.

Myth: If I am losing my hearing, I would know. I will be the first one who will notice it.

Truth: Often, you don't notice the deterioration. Doctors, sometimes, miss this too. Not all physicians routinely check the ear and it is not in the standard procedure as well. You need to actively ask for your ear to be checked during your routine check up.

Myth: I will only need a hearing aid if my hearing loss is really serious. I can still hear so I don't need a hearing aid.

The advancement in technology has allowed the development of hearing aids that serve different purpose. For example, the CIC or completely in the canal style is inserted all the way into the ear. It is small but it has the capacity to filter the noise of the background so you can zero in on a single source of the sound. This means that you ear will not absorb anything you don't choose to focus on.

The price shouldn't be anymore a concern as well. As new manufacturers of or new brands play in the market, consumers are treated with more options. Naturally, when there are options, companies are forced to give the consumers better service and that includes better price range.

Truth: Hearing aid has nothing to do with looking older or younger. Looking older has everything to do with how you are taking care of yourself. You need to work out and eat right. A hearing aid helps in the hearing and nothing more. In fact, there are different kinds of hearing aids that will surely fit what you like. There are kinds that are inserted all the way to the middle ear making it less visible. There are big ones that last longer.
