Vegetables are important to the diet. Vitamins and several nutrients are found mainly in different vegetables and this is what our body needs. The key here is to cook the vegetables properly without draining their vitamin contents.

It is a bit tricky to cook vegetables. They can become bland and mushy when overcooked. In my opinion, boiling is not a good way to cooked vegetables. It drains the essential vitamins and nutrients while making the vegetables flavorless.

Then what is the best way to cook vegetables?

Since you cant boil them, you just have to steam them. In this way, vegetables will always be crunchy and alive. The vitamins and nutrients will remain in large amount.

It takes only a few minutes to steam the vegetables so dont overdo it.

If you dont have a vegetable steamer at home, you can improvise it by using a pot, pot lid and a metal colander. At the bottom of the pot, pour a small amount of water then let the metal colander fit into the pot. Let the water boil and as the steam goes up, put your vegetables on the colander then cover it with a pot lid. These cooking items can help you steam vegetables very well just like using a vegetables steamer.

Cooking vegetables using a wok is also a good choice. The wok is created to be able to cook food items at high temperature at as short period of time. Thus, when you cook vegetables this way, youll be assured that their fresh taste and color will be maintained with a loss of nutrient in small amount.

The key to cooking vegetables properly is to avoid overcooking it. Vegetables need to retain their crisp, color and texture. Learning this secret will make you successful in cooking any vegetable dishes in various events and occasions.
