Education: Helping Mothers Help Their Families

Many people are taking advantage of the poor economic environment by enrolling in schools to improve their job prospects

. This is sage advice for mothers in particular. Some careers are rising fast, and getting a scholarship now can help get the education to meet those work needs.

Technology will continue to be a vital industry. Digital and wireless capabilities continue to advance, and new technology is being developed constantly. There are scores of people who work daily to research, develop, install and troubleshoot these technological tools. In the next five years, the field of computer software engineering is expected to grow significantly. Analysts for network systems and data communications are also expected to be important careers.

Health and medicine is another job area that is always in high demand. There are plenty of important careers besides being a doctor or nurse. Athletic trainers, physical therapists and occupational therapists provide vital support for patients and will be very much needed. It may be an unexpected projection, but veterinary medicine may also be in high demand. Many occupations in health and medicine require an advanced degree, but there are also many jobs that require specialized coursework or training instead.

Preparing for the future job market definitely takes some patience and optimism. Financial planners and advisors, computer analysts and a number of other professions are important now and will continue to be so in the future. Having the right education will be crucial for landing a job in these areas. Moms are often hardest hit by a poor economy. Luckily there are programs targeted specifically toward them. The recent Grants for Moms initiative was started by President Obama and his administration. The Obama administration intends to make going to school more appealing and easier to accomplish with the $5,000 scholarship. Hopefully more mothers can earn the bachelors, associates and specialized degrees that are needed to fill important positions in the work force.

Women have plenty of responsibility for caring for children and families, and hopefully the grants for moms can take some of the burden off trying to get an education.
