Educational Depression : A Decline In Quality Education

Over the years, the decline of education in America has endured both immediate and long term societal effects

. It is possible that the decline of education in America is one of the reasons why many adults and youth alike where greatly affected with the recent global financial crisis.

Having only a few educational opportunities available, the chances of being laid-off from your job will increase seeing as those applicants with a college degree will be given first priority so businesses can establish prestige, honor, and credibility.

A decline in education decreases the chances of survival seeing as individuals will have not only retained a decent full-time job but will force these individuals to obtain a second job just to make ends meet. There is also a significant decline in the values and the attitudes of children. With all forms of media, the internet and fast-paced communication, there has been a decline in face-to-face interactions, a lack of sincerity and honesty, and overall effort to complete an activity or a project.

Discipline will greatly affect the decline of education. There are certain rules and regulations that will keep children organized, thus adhering to these laws and regulations.

If these values have not been inculcated in both the educational and home environments, the probability of inappropriate and unruly behavior outside the school setting could increase. The practice of positive attitudes, positive actions, and positive thinking in school may not be as well-imposed compared to previous decades.

Lack of respect amongst our youth towards their elders has become an increasingly large part of societal corruption. There are either limited or no set demands and expectations for our youth to respect their teachers, the elderly, and more importantly their parents. Teachers have become unable to control their students and have begun to be the main target of pranks. Because of this, the information presented to our youth and adult students alike cannot be absorbed thus leading to the decline in quality education.

There has also been a decline in the competence of teachers. Although there seminars and trainings available to parallel American's educational system with our changing times, there are still issues that have not addressed. Teachers should be continuously informed about new Information relating to America's educational system.

Additionally, teachers should also be provided with mandatory opportunities to enhance their skills. Communication is very important. To keep up with the progress of a student, there should be periodic, although consistent, one-on-one interaction to assess and address their behavior. Behaviors that go unnoticed may cause the student to resort to bigger, irreversible, and more severe behaviors in both the educational and home environments.

Long-term results of decline in education may include low productivity as well as a scarcity of opportunities for generating job. Since the possibility is evident in some cases of immigrants receiving a higher quality education, the tendencies of Americans to become sidetracked are not farfetched. This issue should be brought to our attention before our current situation rapidly digresses.
