If you have some heavy jobs that need to be performed outdoors or away from your home or workshop, you may want to get a truck-mounted compressor. These use your truck's engine to run. While this means your truck's engine must be running for the compressor to work, the compressor itself will not need much maintenance. Truck-mounted compressors are installed in the bed of your pick-up truck. Other models can be installed under the truck's hood in order to save space.

Some truck-mounted compressors can actually be installed on a deck that can be removed from the truck and left at the job site. These models don't use your truck's power because they have their own engine, so they will have to be fueled regularly.
