These are the wires that convert electric energy into heat energy. This heat energy is transferred to the substances that need to be heated.
The process of converting electric energy to heat energy is called Joule Heating. These electric heating wires are substances that have high resistance, since the electric current passes through high resistance conductor, heat is produced.

Application of Electric Heating Wire:
The electric heating wires are generally made of substances like NiChrome, which is a combination of Nickel and Chromium. These wires can be made shaped as ribbon or strip as well in some cases. These wires can be coiled to increase efficiency. The other substances used for making electric heating wires are kanthal, cupronickel which is an alloy of copper and nickel.
The common applications where electric heating wires are used are toasters, hair dryers, roof heating, pathway heating in order to melt snow, floor heating and in industrial furnaces.
There are some other ways the electric heating wires can be used. These wires are melted to form a coating on metal in order to insulate the metal. These are used in ceramic containers and in some domestic appliances like kettles.
The electric heating wires are used in calrods where the wire is coated and sealed inside a tube of rust free metal. This is used for heating items like in toasters.
The incandescent lamp uses the electric heating wires, except that the heated wire, not just transfers heat, but also produces visible radiation that gives light.
Electric heating wires are also seen in Positive thermal co-efficient ceramics. These wires act as their own thermostat and prevents passing of current when hot. This property of electric heating wires is used in defrost heaters, hair dryers and space heaters. This acts as a temperature control.

For this reason, one speaks of "electromagnetism" or "electromagnetic fields". In quantum electrodynamics, disturbances in the electromagnetic fields are called photons, and the energy of photons is quantized.

This suggests that there is some property of the space that causes the force which is exerted on the charge q. This property is called the electric field and it is defined by

Notice that the magnitude of the electric field has units of Force/Charge. Mathematically, the E field can be thought of as a function that associates a vector with every point in space. Each such vector's magnitude is proportional to how much force a charge at that point would "feel" if it were present and this force would have the same direction as the electric field vector at that point. It is also important to note that the electric field defined above is caused by a configuration of other electric charges. This means that the charge q in the equation above is not the charge that is creating the electric field, but rather, being acted upon by it. This definition does not give a means of computing the electric field caused by a group of charges.
From the definition, the direction of the electric field is the same as the direction of the force it would exert on a positively-charged particle, and opposite the direction of the force on a negatively-charged particle. Since like charges repel and opposites attract, the electric field is directed away from positive charges and towards negative charges.
