"Businesses conduct a process known as employee screening so that they can be able

to get to know the applicants and determine if they are fit for the position they are applying for in the company. Along the way, an employer or the company's HR personnel will determine if an applicant is presenting the right information in his resume.

The process will establish whether or not correct or contradictory information has been given and whether or not this applicant will be contributing positively to the attainment of the company's objectives.

The employment process could vary from psychometric, medical, and background checks and testing. Some applicants may practice answering tests that are required for the position to be filled. Screening is a very essential part for any job hiring process as it allows a human resources officer or manager to evaluate an individual applying for a position.

Companies need to know even the most basic information about the people who are working for them. Therefore, doing the employee screening process will be beneficial for the company as it allows them to pinpoint which applicant would most likely perform better. The process will also determine whether a candidate for a certain position is mentally and physically fit for the position.

In today's business industry, competition is stiff. Thus, this kind of process will help the company explore the applicant's character as a whole. In the process of exploration, the company can determine whether the person can be an asset towards the achievement of the company's goals, both long term and short term.

But before conducting such process, there are many factors to be considered. Legal procedure is an example. The process will involve a background check which discloses the personal life of an applicant at some point.

The one conducting the screening process will have a hard time determining whether the information presented to her are in fact true and correct. Though companies can do verification, this is limited to some extent. Some companies have their applicants sign a document. This document will give the company the right to get a hold of pieces of information and documents about the applicant. These documents can be obtained from schools or the previous employer of the applicant.

Because of the existing non-disclosure contract between the applicant and the previous company, this has no legal basis. In the case with the school records, more requirements aside from the document signed between the one conducting the process and the applicant.

The aforementioned are just some of the pros and cons of the employee screening process. The most important thing is for you to get the information you need from the most reliable source. Don't forget to inquire for the basic requirements needed for you to get the information you need. The key here is for you to develop a screening process that will work well for your company in determining the capacity of your applicants.

There are times that applicants tell the truth if there is a standard process. It is not making the system excruciating but rather a resourceful mean of practice in hiring. Find a way to do the process right, legal, and effective because reaching out to other companies for information is costly.
