The wheel is turning the world over when it comes to the way business is done
. You can either turn with it or be crushed under it. Everyone who has anything to do with marketing and advertising are realizing that it is time to change things and adapt to the way the market is changing.
Companies need to actively look at changing their approach. There is just so much that people need to try and absorb from companies. They are constantly bombarded with thousands of sales pitches in a thousand formats and it just becomes noise after a while. The approach needs to change or it will just be lost on consumers.
There is no way that companies can depend purely on their conventional forms of advertising anymore. There is just no way for them to attempt to force-feed people with their products and services as people hate it. People like talking to people and therefore communicate at a furious rate with each other. They talk to each other on a regular basis and discuss absolutely everything. This includes getting opinions and ideas on what to buy and what not to.
The fact that people like talking to people instead of machines is nothing new. People hate to be treated like a number and therefore would rather talk to friends and family to find out what they like and what they don't like. This then often converts into business.
Some companies have woken up and started figuring out that they need to get in touch with their customers, for real. For the first time companies are stepping out of their comfort zone and engaging customers. The companies who are putting in no effort are slowly, but surely, slipping and losing market share.
It is however definitely not time to despair at all. It just means that companies need to actually put in an effort to get in touch with clients. Spend time with them and talk to them where they spend time. The most powerful mediums through which you can communicate is through texting, social networks and even video games.
It is very important that the idea of talking with clients is understood. It is never a selling platform. It is there to engage a client, to find out what bothers them and how you can help them... and then you should actually help them. This means that you have to commit time from your side. The result is however that you can get honest and real opinions from clients, which in turn can help to improve your business.
