Establish Your Priorities Before Selling Your Home

Whenever I want to sell a home I have learned that the best thing to do is find another real estate investor like myself

. Although there weren't many investors in my area back when I started buying and selling homes over thirty years ago there are plenty of them now. And most of them are acquaintances of mine. In fact, we keep in touch and often buy from each other or sell to each other when one person has a home that the other person needs for his or her inventory. It's a lot different for real estate investors than it is for homeowners who only own their home, their personal residence.

First of all, homeowners generally aren't personally acquainted with a variety of real estate investors so they don't have a contact list handy. That means they might be hesitant to give some investors a call to come over and look at their home for sale. It's always more comfortable doing business with someone you know. I think that is one reason so many sellers list their homes with real estate agents, because it is good to have someone you know who is knowledgeable about the market and the sale process.

And secondly, homeowners often don't have a really clear list of priorities in mind. By that I mean they might not know exactly what they are willing to give up in order to get what they want. Prioritizing your goal s for selling is one of the most important things you can do in order to sell a house quickly. For example, you may decide that timing is more important than price, or vice versa. If you're making your decision with a spouse, or with other family members, one of the most important things about selling a home is agreeing on the priorities for a sale. Agreeing on a priority may take some negotiating, but once all sellers agree, it's much easier to set the course for your sale transaction. It's easier to know whether to list your home on the multiple listing service or to call an investor for a quick sale when you know your real goal.

An investor is usually set up to do the legal paperwork in order to close your sale, and that is a big time-saver in itself. Make sure you give sufficient consideration to the idea of calling some investors to get offers when you want to sell a home quickly because they are the buyers who can close fast and pay cash.
