Euthanasia and Assisted Suicide: A Right to Die OR Kill to Right

Euthanasia also called mercy killing' is the act of putting a human being or an animal suffering from an incurable painful disease to eternal sleep through medical means. It has been termed illegal by almost all the countries in the world including the United Nations as the majority of the people think that nobody has a right to purposely end a patient's life irrespective of the amount of pain he is in but there still are places which have legalized and adopted this law. A few countries to be named are Netherlands, Oregon, Washington and Belgium, the only 4 jurisdictions in which Euthanasia is legally being practiced. It has for the past many decades been the topic of discussion and has earned a lot of negative as well as positive remarks for itself.

Euthanasia has its pros and cons. In a way you're doing a good deed by letting go off a patient who has been in pain but on the other hand it can also be taken as murder as no country's government has the right to allow its doctors to put such patients to death. There are two schools of thought one that it is good to put the person to peace while the other debate on how they are stealing the right to live of a person. If he is in such pain then why not just let him die a natural death because he eventually will die until and unless a miracle happens and makes all the misery go away. Another problem which the countries practicing Euthanasia had to face was that there were innumerable unregistered deaths being taken place all over the country as every individual had its own perspective of looking at it. Some thought that if they kill a new born who was declared mentally ill or disabled by the doctors then it would be to save him from the misery he would have to face for life, while many others killed their relatives who according to them were in pain.

In Islam Euthanasia has been declared an illegal act as it is equivalent to killing a human and we know that Allah says that he can heal anyone he likes so we should not stop putting our faith in him. Islam also teaches us that if we kill even a single person it is equivalent to killing the whole humanity so Islamic countries all over the world are the strongest opponents of this law. Islam has always taught us peace and serenity and adopting such a law would go directly against the laws of Islam. It is not only Islam that tells us to not take the law in our hands in fact the several other religions being preached today have somewhat the same rules and regulations. The above mentioned problems being faced by the countries practicing Euthanasia is an open example of what happens when people take the law in their own hands.

It according to me is one of the most lethal laws a human being could have ever come up with.

Since I'm the citizen of Islamic Republic Of Pakistan it is obvious to know that it is against the law of Euthanasia and like many other countries wants the UNHCR to put down some ground rules for the abolition of this law as it is of the opinion that every individual HAS to live his full life and not just end it when he wants it to which is termed as suicide which has strictly been forbidden in Islam. Pakistan strongly abides by the Islamic Constitution and hence it has vowed to not follow this law even if a charter in favour of Euthanasia is included in the UNHCR.
