Everybody's making huge Money - When's it Our Turn

Don't you just go nuts watching, reading, or listening to the news? Everything's quantified by money: Who's making it, who's not, how much oil spills cost, bail-out this and deficit that, salaries of young whiny narcissistic sports adonises... My God, don't you feel like screaming: "Everybody's making huge money. When's it gonna be OUR turn?!" It's monetary drama of the highest order.

Well, I don't know if it ever will be our turn. But, that doesn't mean we give up, does it? I'm sure some folks do. Who can blame them? But, in this society, everything seems to be all about money all the time. While it makes me want to scream the mantra above, it also fuels my desire to have at least a little piece of what they have. It's the modern day version of "Keeping up with the Joneses," I guess. A little immature, a little absurd. Maybe even a tad self-destructive. But, the challenge is just too irresistible. Game on, mother trucker!

Surely there are many far more important things to obsess about than money, the making of it, the rich and famous, the mega-successful, and so on and so forth. Well, having it thrown in your face everyday as if by complete premeditated assault, seems to very much affect me, and probably a lot of us. Yeah, money can not buy you happiness. How many times have we seen that scenario played out? Countless times.

Yet deep down, I believe we all still want to experience what having a lotta' dough feels like. We'd like to prove that money can buy some happiness as long as you keep yourself grounded in who you really are and how you've always lived your life.

Maybe easier said than done. But, we all dream, even if secretly, about winning that elusive lottery in the sky, even if we never play. It's part of the American and global psyches. Money, money, money, money, money. You're hearing Pink Floyd now, too, right?
