For a seat in IIMs for an MBA course, one needs to write the All India entrance examination named CAT
. If one clears the requirements as demanded by the individual IIMs in the written exam and along with other factors like work experience (if any) and academic performance in Xth, XIIth and Graduation, one is called for GD and interview by the respective IIMs separately for which one has qualified. Then depending upon the performances in GD/PI one is finally selected for IIMs for persuing an MBA degree. Last year around 1.8 lac people appeared in the CAT written test out of which approx 2700 students got calls for GD/PI by the IIMs. You have to take holistic preparation for the CAT examination because that is the biggest hurdle. You need to score 99 percentile or above to ensure a call from IIMs with equally good performance in all the three sections of CAT for making into MBA course.
