Nature has blessed Vietnam with numerous bounties; it is an amazing country with a fantastic coastline, lovely beaches, tall mountains and lots and lots of rice fields. The mighty Mekong River is the lifeline of Vietnam. A number of canals have been dug from the river and the little towns along the banks seem more like small islands. The inhabitants of the area are very amiable people and welcome the visitors with big smiles. There are many small factories in the area such as coconut candy factory, rice husking factory etc. You can see the locals make ceramics and can visit the old houses. Visitors are also given tours of the fruit orchards and the fish farms. You can also find pagodas in the vicinity of some areas. Vietnam has a lot to offer to the tourists in terms of tourism. The unique sights and sounds of Vietnam can be best seen and enjoyed by visiting the various towns along the Mekong Delta. There are many towns you can visit along the Mekong Delta. Cai Be is a nice little place where you can spend a day. You can either cruise along the banks of the river and the canals or explore the town on a bicycle. Cai Be is known for its handicrafts shops and its floating market. Other attractions of Cai Be include an ancient house of French times and a rice corn factory. A short distance away from Cai Be is the An Binh islet. This place is famous for its fruit orchards. Vinh Long is another small town where you get to see scenes from the daily lives of the locals. Cai Rang is a floating market and here you will see lots of boats selling fruits, vegetables, fish, rice and flowers. You can watch the locals trade at this unusual market. Soc Trang is another interesting place known not for its fruit markets or rice fields but for its rather unusual inhabitants the fruit bats. The bats live on the grounds of the Chau Doi Pagoda. Going further, one comes to many small towns and villages with Chau Doc being one of them. This place is a minority area where the locals are still involved in the old weaving techniques. There is a mosque and a Chinese Temple in the area. The majestic Mt. Sam stands proudly in the region and is a major tourist attraction.
