Memories of my lonely nights crying on my bed with my Garfield, guys teasing me and calling me siege tank', laughing at my every move and decisions, calling me crazy for unpopular choices that I made still plays from time to time. Those years was the dark era of my life especially when I hit 21 years old and I was partying in clubs every other day, drowning my pain unknowingly with alcohol, cigarettes and men.
Absolutely trashing my life with what is known as the cool factor.
I ended up with one of the nastiest relationship that knocks me off my will to live. The relationship started as a play and turned into violence. Almost run down by his car, slaps and kicks and I was blaming every single bit of my miserable life to him. Not knowing that I was subconsciously desperate for love and attention.
Relationship with parents is of distance. Finances are always tight no matter how much I earned through my part time jobs. Never really felt that I belong to any group of friends, constantly hanging out with new acquaintances and no one for me to turn to when in need. Those days were so miserable, empty and lonely. I don't know what to do, I don't know what happened, I don't know how else can I change further when I am angry and upset most of the time.
Sept 2007, in the midst of the Excellerated Business School for Entrepreneurs (BSE), a nerdy guy was hanging around me most of the time. He looks like everything that I don't want in a man on the surface. Nerdy, coconut cut hair, big tummy, short and not very good looking. Feels rather weird as he is always around especially when I broke down. Somehow he supported me through every step of the way assuring me that I can do it. He is an interesting yet a weird nerd.
Situation became more interesting when he expressed his love and his intention of being my partner on the last day of the programme. In my head I was thinking, how can I ever be with this weird nerd. But he seems to be able to talk to me through just thoughts, telepathically. WEIRD! WEIRD! WEIRD!
Never have I thought that my decision to give it a go would change my life tremendously. A part of him is all that I don't want in a man. The other part of him is all that I Love in a man. He cooks, he is wise, patient, cleans the house, love arts, love home and understands my emotions and feelings.
One of the biggest lesson he shared with me that I practice till this very minute is to PLAY and have FUN without taking things personally everyday! Everyday without fail, he would make fun of me, find something to make me laugh and strive to outwit me everyday! We would sometimes wrestle with each other, tease and sometimes chase each other around despite the presence of our friends and family. What is even more amazing is that we encourage others to play along with us. We encourage laughter and enjoyment of each other's company.
Along with this experience I learnt that I got to LEARN TO LOVE MYSELF and allow myself to experience the purity of joy and play like a child once again. I laugh more in these recent 3 years that past 24 years of my life. I learnt to be contented at the moment and enjoying the moment that I am experiencing.
I LOVE TO PLAY EVERYDAY! I LAUGH EVERYDAY! I PLAY WITH EVERYONE AROUND ME EVERYDAY!
