Page rank and website rank are Internet buzz words today. Introduced as a concept to give each and every website a 'numerical' quality score, these two scores decide the online' shelf life of a website. There are three key factors that clearly explain and establish the concept of SEO (Search Engine optimization).
The first factor is the layout of the website. The website must be simple and easy even for a layman to navigate it. There must be a nice and easy flow between the various elements that connect the website together.
The second factor is the organization of the content. The text-based content must be clear, precise and to the point, especially if the purpose of the website is largely to offer consumers products and services that they are required to pay for. Images, if any, must not be too loud and must obey copyright norms. They should complement the text and not divert the user's attention from the website. A recent development that is slowly getting popular is embedding a short and well-designed introductory video trailer on the home page of the website.
The third and most important factor holds good for ecommerce websites. Online portals that are primarily targeted towards online shoppers must ensure that all their transaction pages where the payment gateway takes the users through the process of entering their financial details and ordering the chosen product must always be secure pages. These are always coded as 'https' pages as compared to the usual 'http' pages of the website.
