Fashion Trends In Dresses For Summer 2012

Fashion changes quicker than a blink of an eye

, and lately there's be a surge of different dress styles that have been popping up. The latest fashion trends for dresses are all embracing of the feminine style, as we've seen a lot this year.

Floral is everywhere. If you don't have it in your closet, now is the time. From small to large prints, from dark colors to brights, you can't get far without seeing a floral dress. It's the ultimate spring/summer dress due to it's flirty nature. Pulling off floral is also easy because it stands out enough on its own that you can pair a simple heel and a solid bag and look great. Florals are popping up on all styles of dresses too, from skin tight to classic A-line, so there's definitely a style that will fit everyone.

Peplum dresses are also big. These dresses have a frill of extra fabric, usually around the waist and hip area, giving a layered look. A lot of women avoid these because they think the fabric is going to make them look wider, but instead it's actually very flattering, especially for a curvier fit. It's one of those designs where you won't know how it looks until you try it, so it's worth giving it a go in a store dressing room first.

Collared dresses, reminiscent of the 60s and 70s, are making a strong comeback. Fashion trends always go through cycles and this is a prime example. These dresses often have a high cut top that rests on the inner part of the shoulders, to really show off the collar. Peter pan collars are coming back as an accessory as well, so if you buy a dress that doesn't have a collar but would look great with one, these attachable collars are a great choice.

Cut-out dresses are huge. There's a right and a wrong way to do cut-outs though, and you want to look classy, not like you are heading to the nearest club (unless of course, you are!). A cut out back is classic and can still be made a bit more conservative with an added cardigan, if need be. Cut outs on the sides, by the waist, are popular as well.

The fashion trends for this summer's dresses are all about the feminine form. Choosing one that suits you will be easy since many of these trends work for all body types.
