Another tip on how to read faster is to skim when needed. You should not feel guilty about skimming. For instance, if you're reading a magazine or a newspaper, skimming can be done, especially when you've gotten the gist of the story, or you have read the main ideas in an article. The only time you should feel a bit guilty about skimming is when you're reading a school book, or you're reading research papers for a homework or a project. To learn speed reading, learn the art of proper or appropriate skimming first.
