Better options will have plenty of vitamins, minerals, fiber and protein to help keep the body strong and well. Fruits and vegetables, low-fat dairy products, high-fiber breads and cereals and lean meats should form the foundation for a healthier lifestyle. For special occasions, and to avoid cravings that can cause binging, a piece of chocolate or fast food hamburger is fine, as long as it does not become a regular habit.
Diet is only one half of a fat loss regime. Exercise is also critical to building muscle and keeping the weight off. When exercising, some people gain weight while they are losing fat. This happens because lean muscle weighs more than fat tissue and is another reason to look at overall health and how clothes fit rather than the scale's numbers. Exercise will also help to keep the heart healthy, which may reduce the chances for some diseases.
Fat loss can be achieved for those who are willing to undergo lifestyle changes in their eating and activity levels. Incorporating exercise, changing to healthier eating habits and allowing for small splurges now and again can create the basis for a fat loss lifestyle that can be maintained for the long term. The result is better health, better fitting clothing and a loss of troublesome body fat.
