In business, people are afraid of all sorts of things

, including simply getting started in building their own business. Although never admitted so dramatically, in effect it paralyses a person's ability to take action or the right action which is not driven by panic and blind hope.

1 Produce and revise. You will not create a perfect product and certainly not first time. Only Mozart or Shakespeare could do that in their respective fields. Even then, critics debate it. Perfectionism is the result of the fear of failure which is the anxiety that others will think they're fools. So they either don't start or they decide to get everything right first. It's better to go ahead, create a product, make mistakes, and review your creation so you can improve it. In fact, once some customers have it, you can ask them how you can make it better.

2 Got a great idea? In that case, tell someone else about it who you trust. Another pair of eyes will see it differently to you and will point out the deficiencies and advantages to it. In other words, to create products and improve on them, you have to take criticism. The biggest criticism would be the question: How do you know anybody wants this product or would buy it?

3 Get organized. The very place people could bring a bit of perfectionism is the place they usually ignore or pretend is OK. You need to be organized basically before you start. Then adapt and develop as you and your business change. At the very least, keep folders and materials on your computer organized. It all saves time as you go on.

4 Plan. This is something else which is usually left to chance. An online business is just like an offline one in that you need to have a plan of action. This is based on your strategy which is derived from your vision and goals for your business. In fact, at first the vision might be the most important and is a good way of overcoming fear. See and write down what you want your business to be like once it's achieved its goals. If you know clearly where you're heading it reduces or removes anxiety about actions.
