Features of Hydraulic Jacks

A hydraulic jack is a mechanical device mainly used to lift heavy loads

. It's very light and compact. The device itself is also portable and capable of exerting great forces. Hydraulic jacks are usually used for shop work and are commonly used for lifting heavy weight equipment. These powerful jacks require extra care when choosing the ground conditions and jacking points on the vehicle. It's also very important to ensure the jack's stability when it's extended.

Features:The hydraulic jack is simply composed of two cylinders of different sizes which are connected together by a pipe and oil or any compressible fluid, which is forced into these cylinders by a plunger. Since it's a self-lubricating liquid, oil can usually be used for the liquid because it has more stability when compared with all other liquids.

The mechanism of hydraulic jack works on the basis of the physical principle that is known and identified as "Pascal's principle". Pascal's remarkable physics principle states that the pressure in a closed container is the same anywhere and at all points of that container. Therefore, when the plunger comes up, it will pull the liquid through a check valve suction pump. When the plunger is being lowered again, it will send the liquid through another valve into the cylinder. A ball is being used for the suction operation in the cylinder, the ball will shut the cylinder and the pressure will be built up in the cylinder. While the suction valve available in the jack will be opened at each draw of the plunger. The discharge valve present outside the jack will be opened when the oil is pushed inside the cylinder and the pressure of the liquid or oil will enable the device to lift any heavy load.

The hydraulic jack was invented by Richard Dudgeon, a Scottish machinist who immigrated to New York City in the U.S. The U.S. Postal Services issued a stamp honoring his recognised contributions to the industrial advancement. He was given a patent for the hydraulic jack invention back in 1851.

Hydraulic jacks are mostly used to lift weights that weigh between 1.5 to 3 tons. Because they are moveable and very easy to use it will be unnecessary to employ heavy-duty and expensive equipment to lift up heavy loads. Different hydraulic jacks will have different functions accordingly to their usage reason.

The major benefit of the hydraulic jack is that it is easy to use, especially as it makes lifting any heavy load and high-pressure moving objects an effortless process for industries. For people who regularly need to work on cars a hydraulic jack is useful and effective. They are available and ready for domestic use. If handled with care they can be used securely by almost anyone. Operating and working with a hydraulic jack is not only very easy, but the lifting process will be accomplished at a faster and more progressive pace.
