Financial Help From The Government Is Needed By Physicians

There are thousands of American physicians who believe that the government needs

to step in and offer a funded national health care insurance program to its citizens, claiming that it would save billions of dollars nationwide and would provide medical care to every citizen. It was several years ago that the government, and Congress in particular, attempted to institute a national health insurance plan, but it was embroiled in controversy and ultimately fell apart under duress from the medical and insurance industries, but now doctors argue again that it is necessary.

Many medical professionals have stepped forward, claiming that the American government has worked to support and pass legislature for the disabled and the elderly that would shift funds to private pharmaceutical companies, yet would be of very little actual value to patients. Physicians would instill a singer payer system, an ultimately advanced and larger edition of Medicare that cared for the disabled and senior citizens.

Health care organizations, mostly initiated as the only hope for health care, have increased the cost of Medicare substantially but haven't done much to win over the favor of the public. Corruption and public embarrassment, have replaced the commitment to proficiency, that hospital chains owned by their investors, once advertised. Doctors posit that pharmaceutical companies, which have enjoyed the benefits of high profits and low taxes - in fact, the lowest in the health care industry - price their medications so high that the people who are most in need of the drugs are unable to afford them . The doctors put forth this single payer system proposal in the highly respected journal of medicine.

The collection of doctors rallying for a national health plan was organized by the previous editor of a prominent American medical publication and two previous surgeons general. A Harvard Medical School professor contends that the system as it is right now isn't tenable since it obviously is going to self destruct. The only viable option, is the single payer system.

But the American Medical Association is against a single payer, government financed health care system said the president of the association in an official press release. He said that putting a single payer system into action in the United States, will simply exchange a current problem for an entire group of differing but equally troubling problems. The qualities present in single payer systems include the development of an inefficient bureaucracy which will lead to a decline of the authority of doctors and patients over important decision making powers, a slower adoption of newer technologies and facility maintenance issues, and lengthy waiting periods for obtaining basic health care services.

The lobbying branch of the managed health care profession, the American Association of Health Plans, additionally reported that it does not support the doctor's proposal because it would extirpate profit for health maintenance groups and hospitals. The American Medical Association states that the doctors who support the proposal for a single payer system, represent less than one percent of the hundreds of thousands of doctors in this country. However, another doctor has suggested that it is important to note that there are a significant number of doctors now in support of a government health care program who at one time were in opposition to it.
