They analyze a large company and jump and try to take the business that is too small for the large company. You can do it to with any service.

You have to be honest with yourself. You may not and more then will not make any money for a long long time. At this point, you shouldn't be in it for just the money. I know it's a major factor, but people normally like doing things they are good at, and they are usually good at doing things they like.

You get the option of exploring new ideas at this phase. You can be careless and risk taking with no repercussion. You can zag while every other company is zigging. This is key, you can do the exact opposite of big companies and test the waters. You never know, you might find so cool new niche that has not been discovered yet.

Another great opportunity is to create opportunity. If you create a product you that other people create you can have a local contest. Think of rib cook offs in the summer. Those are all great cooking entrepreneurs who are trying new flavors. You will notice the more established bbq'rs will shun the young guys who are trying new styles and flavors. The new cook off'rs are just finding white space, and using it to their advantage with no real repercussion.
