It is a 1904 firehouse located in the Soho district of the New York City

. The design of the building features Beaux Art architecture. There are so many interesting things put on display for the visitors. It is a great fun to visit this museum.

What to See in the New York City Fire Museum

Fire Engines

The first fire engine used by fire fighters in the United States. Tourists love to watch this engine. Many other types of fire engines are also put into display here for the tourists. The engines include hand pump engines, the smallest fire engine (as large as a piano box), and the largest fire engine known as Double Decker Philadelphia fire engine.

Parade Room

Parade room contains many worth seeing items from the history of fire fighting.

Paintings and Photography

You will find different paintings and photographs on the walls of the museum displaying the fire fighting theme and scenes in the New York City. On of the wall, you will find the map of Manhattan city.

Tools and Clothing

The museum also displays the historical and modern tools and clothing used in fire fighting. An important tool you will find here is Jaws of Life.

911 Memorial Section

In the museum, you will find a 911-memorial section as well in the memories of those three hundred and forty three fire fighters who died in the process of saving the people from World Trade Center on September 11, 2001.

Guided Group Tours

For tourists, the museum offer more than twenty guided group tours in which the tourists can as different questions from the fire fighters and fire fighters will answer their question readily. Fire fighters will present history of the museum and other important facts about it. Fire fighters will also guide the tourists about how to take precaution to fire danger.

Hells Hundred Acre

This is a place famous for the highest count of death by fire. Retired FDNY personnel lead the tour. In this tour the tourists visit the Engine 31, five places more vulnerable to fire, St. Patricks Cathedral and Ground Zero.

Museum also has a gift store that offers different items including FDNY souvenirs. These items can also be purchased online.

Museum also offers space for rent to organize different events like wedding ceremony, birthday party or any other get together.
