First Time Camping Tips: What You Need To Know

A long weekend is great to spend time with your family and kids

. This is because each one in the family has a few days off to relax and enjoy peace and silence. One good way to spend this holiday is to pack your outdoor camping supplies and backpacking gear so you can go for a camping trip. For many years, this has been one of the most popular activities that families do together and through this, they are able to strengthen their relationship. If you have never taken your family for a camping outing before, now is the right time to do it. Here are a few of the things you will have to know and bring with you:

The best place to camp

Generally, there are two kinds of camping grounds: private and public. There are now a lot of public camping sites that offer places to stay such as national forests, state and national parks. Each of these has its own campsite that is complete with usual amenities. The biggest difference between these two campsites is that the private is more costly and it only allows a certain number of campers to stay in the vicinity.

But if you prefer a more traditional way of camping, you can always pitch a tent in the wilderness or at a hillside. Prior to this though, make sure that this is permitted in the area you have chosen. This does not come equipped with amenities so you will have to bring your basic requirements if you select this option. As an option, you can hire or buy your own trailer for a more comfortable camping experience.


The appropriate clothing for camping

Once you are camping, you need to bring comfortable clothes. This means you have to avoid using heels as you will be walking all the time. As a replacement for heels, you should bring hiking boots to safeguard your feet against the uneven ground. Even if there is no sign of it, always bring a sweater and some gear against rain. It protects for you and your family when there is a sudden shower.

Things you need to bring:

Plates and cups that you can utilize to heat food and water.

A first aid kit that is complete with bandages and needed medication drugs.

Food that will be enough to feed your family throughout the extent of the trip. You can also carry snack bars.

If you're not taking a trailer, bring a durable and reliable tent.

Bring a sleeping bag that you have found comfortable to sleep in.

A camp stove so that you can cook food as well as heat water in it.

Constantly bring a flashlight complete with new dependable batteries.

Bring a matchbox so you can light the stove and your campfire, if you are planning on having one.


A Swiss knife to assist you cut anything. You can also bring a machete to aid you in your hike.

Biodegradable soap is needed so you can take a bath. It is the preferred option as it is more eco-friendly compared to the other kinds of soaps.

To prevent shortage, do not forget to bring lots of water. You may be miles away from a close and available water source.
