Fitness For The Couch Potatoes
If you can stare at a television for as long as three hours straight and enjoy your
favorite flick while munching on some salty and fat-laden junk foods or even if you can just stare blankly daydreaming while laying on the couch for more than hours then you are a certified couch potato. It may not come as a surprise as well that you have formed layers and layers of fat all around those body parts.
More often than not, we reason out that we were into this situation is because of our own choices. But lately, there were proofs that this type of lazy habit can also run in the genes. Don't get your hopes up yet in finding this statement as a justification for those slouchy hours. This was merely meant to explain how other people simply find it difficult to get on those exercise machines instead of lazing out.
There are actually some means to break off this habit. Most people who work would try to find an elevator instead of taking the stairs, disregarding that as simple as walking can do to help burn off those fats.
In order to break the pattern, try dressing up more appropriately and comfortably. In this manner you won't feel reluctant at all to exercise or think that you may want to go out instead of slouching all afternoon. Staying in your sleeping clothes or pajamas may tend to entice you for a lazy feeling. If you're appropriately dressed it may inspire you to walk a couple of blocks to chat on some friends or even volunteer to take the dog for a walk.
Knowing what your goals are is also important. It is helpful if you have some ideas to focus on. Write down a couple of things or activities you may want to finish up for a day then gradually lengthen the list to a week, to a month and even for a year. It may also be helpful if you post it somewhere around the house where you can be reminded of it every single day.
Don't try to push yourself too fast to go for strenuous activities on the first few weeks. If you do not have the time, as simple as walking counts as a physical activity moreover if you can last doing it for more than 30 minutes for a few days in a week. There are many exercise DVD's available nowadays, if you feel like you're up to the challenge you may very well want to jump onto its beat in as soon as your second week. As mentioned, starting on a slow paced activity is beneficial. As time passes by you would feel for yourself that you need a bit more challenge and put your physical activity towards the next level.
True enough, avoiding a life of being a couch potato is difficult but no one said it is impossible. Just find activities that you may actually enjoy aside from flipping the TV channels.
