Five Tips For New Cougars

If you are a single woman who has just reached the age of 40 and who also happens

to fancy much younger men, congratulations! You have finally reached "cougar" status. An "Older" woman going for cubs is hardly a new phenomenon: Mae West was a cougar decades ago. But today's middle-aged gals are taking better care of themselves as a group, and this trend has taken cougar-ism mainstream. If you are just venturing out of the den for the first time, here are five tips for new cougars.

1.Looks really do matter. In a perfect world, we would all be attracted to one another based only on our scintillating personalities, personal charms, and blistering intellects. But this is not a perfect world. Admit it: you seek good looks and perhaps some tight abs in your cubs, so they will also be seeking a hot older woman. If you haven't already, now is the time to hit the gym and slim down; get a sexy new haircut; buy some new clothes.

2.Never say no to cosmetic surgery. One of the advantages of being a cougar in these modern times is that there is affordable help for those tell-tale signs of age that can't be helped by going to the gym. Give yourself an edge among the competition and boost your own self-esteem by indulging in a little nip here and a little tuck there.

3.Don't overdo it. Cubs are innately attracted to more natural-looking older women. Getting dolled up for a night on the town is fine, but you don't want to look like a drag queen at two o'clock in the afternoon. Too much cosmetic surgery will make you look fake no matter what time of day it is; and too much makeup is, well, too much. Stick to hairstyles that are natural for you as well as flattering: falling prey to the illusions of hair extensions and wigs may betray you at the most inopportune times!

4.Stay away from cubs who live too close to your den. Too many cougars make the mistake of going after their friends' and neighbors' sons; this is an invitation for trouble, pure and simple. Living the cougar lifestyle does not mean "preying" on anyone who is young and handsome: it means being discerning and couth and keeping your love life separate from your other lives whenever possible. Bottom line: hunt far from home.

5.Let your personality shine through. It is your confidence that has been earned through experience that is the main attraction for your cub. The myths about cougar/cub relationships being all about sex and looks are dead wrong. Dolling yourself up is all well and good, but if that's all you have going for you, you won't have a very successful hunt.

Being a cougar can be one of the most fun "hobbies" of middle-age; and remember: practice makes perfect.
