Some programs will help you not only to make free calls, but also to manage the phone numbers you need and use on a regular basis. You can route incoming calls to a number you got for free, to another phone. Some programs also give you free SMS, free conference calls and free voice mail.

Free phone calls may be accessed through a web app, that you open in a browser. There are also dedicated apps available for Blackberry and Android users. Some tools offer free software that will allow you to make free calls from your PC to a phone. The desktop apps work on Windows, Linux, Max OS X and the iPhone. You may have a five limit or some other limit on free calls, but you can call the number right back and talk more. There may be ads while you're on the phone too, before you are connected.
