The American automaker GM has been riding a wave of increasing successes since the middle of this year. Overall sales have increased, including huge jumps in Cadillac and Buick models. In addition, the government recently began selling shares of GM to the public - a sign of the increased stability and likely profitable future of GM now widely accepted by industry experts. Now, new nods of approval for several of the auto manufacturers' trucks mean the company will end the successful 2010 calendar year with an even bigger bang. From Miami used GMC dealerships to new Chevrolet dealerships in LA, GM salespeople have reason to cheer this holiday season.

A recent study of the overall quality of the heavy-duty pickup truck market, conducted by a team at an independent truck website, PickupTrucks.com, ranked two GM truck models in the top three best pickup trucks currently on the market. Although this fact is notable in itself, it is even more impressive when you add to it the fact that industry specialists feel that the current team of heavy-duty pickups available on the market from all pickup manufactures comprise the best, strongest, most capable and most efficient pickup trucks to date. To be in the top three of a lousy bunch isn't saying much, but to be the in the top three of the best there has ever been now that is quite an accomplishment.

These facts all add up to prove that it's currently a pickup truck buyer's market, whether you're from LA or Miami. GMC Sierra trucks, specifically, were one of the two GM models to earn a spot in the top three spots of the ranking. The GMC Sierra Denali 3500 HD, the specific model to be tested, earned the top spot among all one-ton diesel duallies, aka the "big guys" that you see on the streets of Miami. GMC Sierra earned its award by winning five out of the six power categories all the "big guys" were judged on. Notably, the conductors of the study found that the truck's "new ride and handling characteristics are excellent and its braking abilities were significantly better than its one-ton competitors."

The other big winner in the GM truck line up was the Chevrolet Silverado 2500 HD. The website categorized the truck with other ton crew-cab 4x4s that also were diesel powered and single rear-wheel, calling this category "the heart of the HD market, where the most sales are made." The website found that the Silverado had what it takes to deserve a majority of the sales in the category in part thanks to its impressive Duramax diesel engine, but only due to considering the fact that this powerful engine does not compromise the fuel efficiency of the vehicle. The vehicle's fuel efficiency, the website noted, is excellent.

Finally, the guys at PickupTrucks.com were impressed with the new frame and suspension sported on the 2011 Silverado. About the Silverado's ride, handling and steering characteristics, the researchers said, "we now think (they) are the benchmarks in the segment."

A visit to your local Miami used GMC and Chevrolet dealership might be in order on the chance that a 2011 version of these impressive trucks has already found its way to the used lot. However, since the trucks are obviously of superb quality, the newest model is unlikely to be on used lots so quickly. However, the 2010 model of both trucks is, for the most part, comparable to the newest versions. Bottom line, GM is making some industry leading heavy-duty trucks.
