It detects if the power is off and automatically provides power. It turns off and transfers the source of power back to your electrical utility when the power is back on. Propane-powered standby is more environment-friendly and provides safe, longer fuel supply compared to diesel and gasoline generators.

Portable this device is usually seen in construction sites, camps and family bonding in areas where electricity is scarce. It can power small appliances such as blenders, electric fans, television, refrigeration and others. This type comes with wheels for easy mobility since it is required to be placed outside during use. Most of its designs are fueled by gasoline, making carbon monoxide a big concern for users. Due to its size, it can only be used for a short period of time. Hence, it is much cheaper compared to other types.

These devices also vary on the speed at which they run. Most of these devices run at 1800 RPM and 3600 RPM. 3600 RPM motors are smaller which makes them lighter as well. 1800 RPM motors runs quieter compared to the latter motor and runs longer as well. These devices also come in different designs. You must take into consideration the mounting system of a standby to ensure little to no vibration and quieter operation for a more efficient machine.

Maintenance is also a great factor to consider. Most models offer an easy access, centralized maintenance area so you can do the basic maintenance requirements yourself. This is to save you from unnecessary technician calls that can cost a lot. Depending on your power needs, you must remember how long you would need to power your area, how much wattage would you need, how you would transport your device to the designated area and how much does the generators cost.
