Geo Targeting - Internet Marketing Secret Strategy

With the invention of what we now refer to as Web 2.0 the popularity of internet marketing is beginning to rise

. Just as the ability to interconnect over the internet with your peers becomes more popular so too does the concept of doing business over the web. Internet marketing allows sellers and purveyors of products and services the ability to advertise their product or service in new ways that would never before have even been thought possible.

One of the most interesting of these new ways to advertise and reach likely potential buyers is referred to simply as "Geo Marketing." Geo marketing allows a seller or purveyor of a product or service to learn the general location of a particular user through what's known as "Geo Software."

Geo software is used to deliver different advertisements of nearby products or services to the user based on his or her location in the world. Geo software works by determining a users location through either their country, state, zip code, region, ISP or IP address.

This allows the various advertisements to be changed based on the user's geological location and will more often than not advertise products or services that are in the users area from then on.

This allows the advertiser to make the user aware of the product or service that exists in their local area. This means that the if the user is looking for something specific it will be advertised on the page they visited and not only will the product be advertised but the convenience of it being close by and more often than not the exact location of the particular product or service being advertised.

Some have called this particular method of advertisement intrusive, but it has not been ruled illegal, nor is it generally frowned upon the business community.
