Germans Are The Worlds Greatest Solar Power Energy Producers

Due to global warming and the increasing costs of oil and energy prices

, countries around the globe are now choosing green energy such as the use of a Solar PV. Solar energy is one of those regarded as green energy. Among the countries using solar power, Germany is referred to as the solar powers biggest user with numerous solar panel systems set up in the country.

In the 1970s, Europe which includes Germany, encountered several oil crises which made people pay for high energy prices. The subsequent twenty years werent exactly pleasant to the German public as the Chernobyl nuclear disaster made environmental issues that could be harmful to the population. In 1998, Germanys Green Party has formed a coalition with the Social Democratic Party. During this period, the Kyoto Protocol was born out of the worldwide cooperation against global warming. Under this method, Germany has guaranteed to reduce their emissions by 21%. This launched the green revolution in the country which is ultimately marked by the installation of photovoltaic (PV) panels as a means of harvesting solar power energy.

Germanys solar PV installations started in 1991 which aimed to have 1000 roofs installed with solar panels. To keep this project going, the government decided they would have financial aid to those who would install solar panel systems to their houses. From a preliminary target of 1000, the project successfully reached an approximate number of 100,000 solar-powered residences. It was then ceased in 2004 and the German solar PV industry turned out to be a roaring success.

It has reached new heights and even the internet giant, Google, has decided to invest into one of the solar PV plants in Germany. The solar PV plant was established to deliver clean and sustainable energy to more than five thousand households in the region. If everything will be set, this could be Googles first expenditure pertaining to environmentally friendly projects in Europe.
