Get Desired Plastic Objects Through Injection Molding
Injection Molding:
Injection Molding:
Injection molding is one of the most common manufacturing techniques used in the manufacturing industries. It is used to produce plastic materials in various densities and dimensions. It is a common method to produce both thermoplastic and thermosetting plastic.
Injection molding consists of the following process:
"First a Mechanical/Industrial/Design Engineer designs the product and hands over all the relevant drawings in different views, virtual 3D models and prototype.
"Next, the mold-maker designs the mold/cavity using which the product can be obtained. The mold are usually prepared in steels or aluminum or wood. They can have single or multiple cavities. These molds are designed to work for a long duration of time. For instance a single mold may be used to produce injection mold or plastic molds of nearly a million products. But every mold is made unique to the product it is expected to manufacture.
"The plastic in the required density is heated in the boiler drum which has a nozzle.
"After suitable temperatures and pressures are reached, the plastic is injected to the mold through the nozzle through the ram type or plunger type mechanism.
"This mold is contained in higher pressure and gradually cooled down to obtain the product which is generally called as the injection mold or plastic mold product.
Applications of Injection Molding and Plastic Injection Molding:
"Injection molding is used in the manufacture of wire spools and packing materials.
"Injection molding is a primary process in the manufacture of many automotive products like the dashboard, the panels and the entire body of the automobile itself.
"Plastic injection molding is used to manufacture most of the plastic materials or the plastic parts of other materials today.
Advantages of Injection Molding and Plastic Injection Molding:
"Injection molding is one of the most common and comparatively economical means of manufacturing in the current manufacturing industries. It is economical because, ones the molds or dies are prepared they can used for longer duration of time to manufacture products.
"Injection molding is primarily used for high volume production. Since the initial investment on the mold making is high, a huge number of products have to be manufactured using the single injection mold or plastic mold to recover the expenses.
"Injection molding offers you the highest tolerances on the products as per specification. Since there is no cutting and only forming, the accuracies are often higher.
